Bissap jam

Also called hibiscus flowers, bissap has a slightly acidic taste, and a high amount vitamin C.

Very popular in West Africa (bissap, dah bleni) and Egypt (karkadeh).

It is also used for its diuretic and tonic properties.

Introduced in Europe at the end of the century, bissap is most often used to prepare herbal teas.
