Hibiscus is the common name for bissap in Senegal, dah bleni in Mali, karkadeh in Egypt and sorrel in Jamaica.
With a hight amount of vitamin C, bissap is also used for its diuretic and tonic properties.
Introduced in Europe at the end of the century, bissap is most often used to prepare herbal teas.
